Trash Pick Up: Garbage cans and/or bags should be placed at the curb no later than 6am the day of pick up.
Recycling Pick Up: Harford County residents are not required to recycle, however, HSS encourages all residents to take advantage of the program. Aluminum and tin cans, glass jars and bottles, aerosol cans, coded plastics #1 - #7, and 6 and 12 pack rings will be accepted. All containers should be rinsed, caps removed, and placed in a blue bag. Newspapers, magazines, and phone books should be placed in a brown paper bag. Cardboard and paperboard must be flattened and bundled with string or twine, not wire. Check the schedule page for a list of which recyclable material is being picked up that week.
Yard Waste Pick Up: Yard Waste is recycled in spring, summer, and fall months, and will be collected on a pre-specified day. Grass, twigs, and leaves will be collected for composting and should be placed in large leaf or trash bags. Sticks, twigs, brush, etc. must be bundled with string or twine, not wire. Compost/Yard Waste will not be accepted if garbage is mixed in with the compost/yard waste or if bundled with wire.
Fall Leaf Collection: It is illegal to burn leaves. Leaves will be collected for composting on a pre-specified day. Leaves should be collected in to black trash bags. Citizens should not sweep loose leaves into the public street. Loose leaves will clog the storm sewer system and cause flooding in the spring.
Bulk Pick Up: Bulk items are household items that are too large to be placed in a garbage can or bag. Items containing freon (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, etc.) will be accepted only if they are certified freon free by a licensed refrigeration technician. Building and remodeling materials, automobile parts, oil, tires, liquid waste, and paint thinner will not be accepted. Call to schedule bulk items to be collected in your area.
Roll-Off Units: HSS offers Roll-Off units in 10 and 30 yards sizes to handle your spring cleaning and temporary construction needs. This includes uses for projects such as renovations and remodeling, ground clearing, and general cleanup / cleanouts. We deliver the dumpster directly to your site when you need it and remove it when your project is completed.
Front End Loads: HSS offer 2, 4, 6, and 8 cubic yard containers and vertical compactors for commercial establishments as well as farms, small businesses, and some residential type collections with residential rear load containers.
Roll-Off Units: HSS offers Roll-Off units in 10, 20, 30 and 40 yards sizes to handle your temporary construction needs. This includes uses for projects such as renovations and remodeling, ground clearing, and general cleanup / cleanouts. We deliver the dumpster directly to your site when you need it and remove it when your project is completed.
Compactors, Shredders, Bailers: Compactors, Shredders, and Bailers are available to our customers through a leasing program or outright purchase. We do not rent equipment. We do, however, provide receiver boxes for a small a monthly service fee.
